Mariah Carey’s Wedding Cake

I’ll admit this image is pretty tame compared to the last Ode to Stuffed Animals seen on Wedinator. But that doesn’t make it any less confusing or tacky.
WAS this Mariah Carey’s wedding cake? Are there other people out there who pay a premium for rainbow fondant decorated with a Sweet Sixteen bejeweled heart and paper butterflies from Michael’s? Something tells me this couple’s first dance is set to ‘A Whole New World’ from Aladdin.
I’m thinking it’s more an homage to the Grateful Dead…anyone?
Would that make those flowers sugar magnolias?

Uh-oh…I must be tacky because I think this is pretty awesome. I’d definitely lose the jeweled heart, the teddy bear and the mysteriously glowing cake stand, but the rainbow fondant and paper butterflies can stay. But then, I was married in the eighties…
I think it’s awesome too! Only because not many people are going to have that Style of cake! I want one at my wedding now!
Maybe the cake goes along with the bowls of acid on the reception tables….

Should we be trying to induce seizures during the reception? I guess it would add to the drama of the event
I would lose the fake flowers, butterflies, heart-thing, and bear… but I love the rainbow fondant.

I agree with Kasheri’s comment. I LOVE it!!! Who wants a boring old white wedding cake when a cake like this can scream HAPPINESS?!?!?

Okay my cake was classy white all the way. Now I’m wishing I could have had this (minus the teddy bear and butterlies. what the???) I think that is actually quite lovely. Like Chanel always said,”Get completely dressed and then always take one thing off”. This could have used that advice.
See I would keep everything (definitely would replace the bear though). I love rainbows and butterflies and I’m well aware of the fact that it’s silly and girly but y’know what? It’s bright and colourful and fun and that’s exactly what I want my wedding to be. I think the butterflies and flowers are a nice fun touch.
“blue” mentioned the colours would stain everyone’s teeth and I think that would be the best part.

Funny enough I think the colours are amazing! The butterflies are a beautiful touch, but then they ruined it with the bear and heart. That was just overkill. Not many people have multicolour weddings so it’s refreshing to see something like this. I used to work in the wedding industry so to see this is like a breath of fresh air over the usual white with a little of the colour of your wedding. Maybe it’s because I like colour too. Or I’m thinking of getting this for my next bday party which has an 80′s theme? But generally this cake is pretty but I wouldn’t torment my guests to it though at my wedding. White icing with muliticolour ribbon and the flowers would’ve been enough.
I actually love this wedding cake. I’d want one like this someday….
