Star Wars themed weddings are a test of will. You can just wear the Stormtrooper helmet – or the Darth Vader mask – OR you can go balls to the wall and throw on the entire Phase III armor + blaster like these guys. Even the bride is getting in on the action. I just wonder how they’re going to do the electric slide in those things.

Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away…Er, back in October I posted a picture of this cake from another angle and wondered aloud, “WTF is this supposed to be?” Several readers said “DUH, it’s poo,” but I was still leaning toward a Jabba/Garfield combo (OK, Garfield was a really long shot).

Now I see that it is in fact Jabba the Hut, and a pretty damn good replica of him! The color, proportions, and facial expression are spot-on. Plus it looks so….tasty.

This cake is super sweet on multiple levels. The only thing that would make it better is if it was an ice cream cake. (Is the white slab supposed to be ice?) But overall it looks good and appears easy to cut…unlike this R2D2 cake:

Aww. It’s a celebration, not a sacrifice! Do they HAVE to eat him? He’s just so cute. Plus, how does one request a slice of R2D2? “I’d like a piece of his hologram projector, please!” It just seems cruel. And yet, oh-so-tasty. Mmmm…droids.

Supposedly George Lucas said the Millenium Falcon’s design is based on a hamburger, but I think this groom’s cake will do just fine. I love that it has the ‘Just Married’ sign on it. That really takes it from “child’s birthday cake” status to “awesome wedding cake” status. I wonder what the inside tastes like?

There are probably a few things from The Empire Strikes Back that are tastier than a tauntaun’s innards. Like Yoda’s porridge, or Darth Vader. Then again, as a little girl I always wondered what it would be like to sample Luke Skywalker pre-Jedi.

On some planets, half-frozen Rebel soldiers are a delicacy.
